The beginning of this year witnessed the introduction of Samsung’s first mirrorless camera at CES 2010. The company has now released a firmware upgrade version 1.2 for its NX10 camera which will assure full compatibility with new i-Function lenses for enhanced control over the device.
Professional photographers can now intuitively and conveniently control the camera’s settings for clear cut imagery. This exclusive proactive i-Function lens interacts with the body of NX10 to produce better results and ensure swift image capturing. Users can enjoy total image control and customize their required settings for the lens that is put to use.
“We want to ensure that all NX system range users can experience the same pioneering technology. All NX system lenses launched from now on will feature the groundbreaking i-Function capability, so all our customers have the perfect picture at their fingertips,” remarked SangJin Park, President of Samsung Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “Our unique i-Function Lens technology is the first of its kind and is another example of our unparalleled innovation which will appeal to every photographer – whether they are a beginner or an enthusiast.”
The NX system lenses introduced by the company from now onwards are expected to come equipped with the i-Function capability. This capability is a single touch button which activates shooting controls such as shutter speed, ISO, white balance and aperture for effortless configuration during photo shoots. When users press the button, the camera displays the shooting parameter with a graphical cue. Aficionados can then rotate the manual focus ring of the lens to change the value.
Interestingly, exact geographical location in real time can be captured by the GPS trackers in the NX cameras. Users will be able to geotag their special moments to display city names across 76 countries. This will enable users to sort their photos according to their location.
Users can further enhance the NX10 camera by purchasing a host of innovative lends and accessories. A compact zoom 20-50mm lens for both high image quality and portability is included in the lens lineup. Another wide angle Pancake lens of 20mm featuring GUI to support the i-Function lens technology will also be made available. The Lens Distortion Compensation will decrease image distortion for noise-free pictures clicked by NX cameras.
However, there’s no official word on the pricing and availability details of the i-Function lenses for Samsung’s NX10 mirrorless camera.
