Samsung has announced the release of a firmware upgrade for its NX100 and NX10 compact system digital cameras, improving the user experience and adding new features to the devices.

Announced today, the upgrade is designed to add the same i-Function setting interface as was introduced on the newer NX11, allowing users to take full advantage of the functions available when using an i-Function lens with their camera.
Support has also been added for optical image stabilisation on the 50-200mm II lens, along with an improvement to the movie auto-focus mode - designed, the company claims, to offer a vastly more steady focus when moving from subject to subject during filming.
The new firmware also includes the option to use the Panorama Shot scene when wide angle lenses are fitted, a new contrast auto-focus system for clearer low-contrast shots in low-light conditions, and tweaks to the user interface that makes the older NX10 and NX100 cameras feel more like the new NX11.
"We continually look for ways to improve the photography experience, to make it more fun and add value for our customers," claimed Samsung's Hyunho Chung during the announcement. "The latest upgrade is reflective of this. Users of the NX system already benefit from key features such as compact portability of the devices, and innovations like the i-Function lens. Through ongoing developments, we hope to offer even more to enable photographers of all levels to get the best results and professional-looking pictures every time. We look forward to announcing a number of additional developments in the future to make the NX range even easier for our customers to use."
