Casio hopes its reputation as a leading calculator and timepiece maker will rub off on its new range of compact digital cameras. Through local distributor Shriro Australia, Casio has released the Exilim range of compacts, which are high on features and competitively priced.
The Exilim line-up includes the shock-resistant, waterproof and dustproof EX-G1 ($399.95 RRP); the compact super-zoom EX-H15 ($399.95 RRP) with a 1000 photo battery life, and the high speed EX-FH100 ($549.95 RRP) which is capable of ultra high-speed burst shooting at 40fps and can record high speed movies at up to 1,000fps.
Casio also claims to have released the world’s first hybrid GPS enabled digital camera, the Exilim EX-H20G ($599.95 RRP). This model offers ultra-precise location data for the geotagging of photos and videos and is also the first camera able to geotag indoors, according to Shriro Australia general manager – Casio, Tim Hargreaves. Additionally, the EX-H20G can display the user’s current location as well as geotagged photos and videos.
The camera also contains detailed maps and photos of 140 cities. Shriro Australia CEO Mike Westrup told Photo & Imaging News that Hong Kong-based Shriro had a strong international connection with the imaging market through its distribution agreements with Hasselblad, Carl Zeiss and the Pentax group. Meantime, Shriro Australia has appointed Paul Beaton as the national sales manager for Casio Digital Camera Division.
