Samsung may only be a new player to the digital camera game compared to well-known industry brands like Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax, but the company’s latest compact system camera NX200 at the IFA 2011 consumer electronics show suggests how quickly it can pick up with competition. Even if it comes in a comparatively smaller package, the Samsung NX200 is not devoid of its rivals’ power to offer professional standard photos.

The NX200 sports a 20.3-megapxiel APS-C CMOS sensor – Samsung’s own technology – to offer DSLR quality images despite the compact frame, 100-millisecond advanced autofocus (AF) speed via Fast Boot, 7 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting, and the ability to capture shot after shot in just 400 milliseconds.
With a wide ISO range from 100 to 12800 covering seven stops, the Samsung NX200 produces sharp details and living colors even in low-light environments. Photo buffs also receive full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080-resolution at 30fps. The NX200 will expectedly come at $900 with an interchangeable 18-55 mm zoom lens and on-camera flash, but Samsung has yet to announce its availability.
